Throughout his distinguished career, Jerry Speziale has put pride and respect for the uniform he wears and what it symbolizes, in the forefront. His outstanding performance as a law enforcement professional has led him around the world. From overseas drug enforcement raids with the DEA, coordinating and operating a Narcotics and Money Laundering Unit for the Passaic County Sheriff's Office, and operating an Organized Crime Control Bureau for the City of New York, to being a proud husband and father.
A career cop who has attended three police academies and is a certified police officer in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Jerry Speziale first served fifteen years with the New York City Police Department where he worked in the South Bronx, Organized Crime Control Bureau and Federal Drug Enforcement Task Force and became the youngest First Grade Detective in the history of the NYPD. He was Chief of Department with the Bergen County Sheriff's Department. He also served as Chief of Police in New Hope Pennsylvania, where in a short time he changed a totally fragmented police department into a well-respected and productive agency. Jerry is a graduate of the University of Louisville, Southern Police Institute, Advanced Administrative Officers Course.
Jerry has been credited with saving the victims of two separate kidnappings. He is one of the nations leading experts on cell phone and wiretap surveillance, narcotics smuggling, and money laundering, and has written the manual for the Department of justice. Jerry continues to conduct lectures for the FBI, DEA and Department of Justice. He has also testified before the US Congress.
Over his career he has been awarded numerous Medals and Citations including a Medal of Honor, Medal of Exceptional Merit, 10 Medals of Commendation, 6 Medals of Meritorious Police Service and 5 Medals of Excellent Police Duty. He has also received 22 awards through out his career including the DEA Administrators Award (1992, 1997 and 1999), Dea Achievement Award (1998 and 1999), New Jersey Narcotics Enforcement Association Award (1997), NJ PBA Silver Lifetime Membership Award (1998), NYPD Integrity Commendation (1996), Bergen County Prosecutors Letter of Commendation (1994), Morris County Prosecutors Letter of Commendation (1994), US Department of Justice Organized Crime Commendation Letter (1998), the New York City Special Narcotics Prosecutors Award (1992).
He wrote about his career in "WITHOUT A BADGE, Undercover in the World's Deadliest Criminal Organization, Kensington Publishing Corp. 2003. Publishers Weekly hailed the book as "an amazing life story, a breathless narrative, a detailed insider look at the tough life of undercover cops."
