The Community Policing Unit, headed by Director William McCrary, is tasked with providing a variety of programs and community services to the citizens in Passaic County. Along with setting up tours and demonstrations of Sheriff’s Office facilities and emergency services, the Community Policing Division keeps county residents informed through informational sessions relating to crime and personal safety.
Community Policing maintains positive relationships with county residents, which is vital to all aspects of law enforcement, through programs such as the following; Senior Citizen ID program, Blood Pressure Monitoring, the Are You OK program, Reality Check, Junior Police Academy, Community Emergency Response Team, and Crime Stoppers.
Community Policing also coordinates a TIPS line program that provides a non-traceable and non-recorded toll free phone number for reporting suspicious or criminal activity throughout Passaic County. This number can be reached at 1-888-958-TIPS (8477).
