Chief George Rosenthal

Chief George RosenthalChief George Rosenthal began his career in 1997 with the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office. During his time with the Hudson County, he began in the Court Division and later served in the Patrol Division and Fugitive Warrant Squad. In 2001, he was assigned to work with the United States Marshall Service Joint Fugitive Task Force targeting violent offenders wanted for crimes such as Murder, Attempted Murder, Kidnapping, Sexual Assault, Narcotics Offenses and Parole Violations. 

In November of 2002, he transferred service to the Passaic County Sheriff’s Office. Since his time with the Passaic County Sheriff’s Office, he has served in Uniformed Patrol where he worked with and has been assigned to our local municipalities. Chief Rosenthal was later promoted to detective and assigned to the Sheriff’s Anti-Crime Unit and later to the Bureau of Narcotics. He has worked with numerous municipal, county, state and federal agencies conducting joint investigations of various magnitudes. 

In December 2008, he was promoted to Sergeant and returned to patrol as a front line supervisor. In 2010, he was promoted to Detective Sergeant and began supervising the Internet Crimes Unit, targeting Child predators. In February 2014, Chief Rosenthal was promoted to Detective Lieutenant and assumed command of the Special Investigations Division, where he oversaw all Administrative Investigations. In May 2015, he was promoted to Detective Captain and was placed in charge of all of the Passaic County Sheriff’s Office Investigative Units. In February of 2017, He was promoted to Chief and placed in charge of the Law Enforcement Division. 

Chief Rosenthal has received numerous awards and citations. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Caldwell College. He is married and has four children.
