Undersheriff Daryl Walton is married to his wife Jeanette for 22 years and they five children together. He is a lifelong resident of the City of Paterson and began his career in 1995 as a Security Officer with the Passaic County Sheriff’s Office. In 1998, he attended and completed the Basic County Correction Class at the Passaic County Police Academy and served as a Correction Officer in the Passaic County Jail. In 2000, he attended and completed the Basic Police Class at the Passaic County Police Academy and served as a Sheriff’s Officer assigned to the Bureau of Court Security. He was later transferred to the Patrol Division. Undersheriff Walton was later promoted to detective and was assigned to the Criminal Investigation Division. There he worked with numerous municipal, county, state and federal agencies and conducted joint investigations with many agencies. In 2008 Undersheriff Walton served as an acting supervisor of the Criminal Investigation Division and the Internet Crime Unit. During this same year, Undersheriff Walton was later transferred to the Special Investigation Division, where he was later promoted to the rank of Detective Sergeant. Undersheriff Walton was transferred in 2010 and became the Detective Sergeant of the Criminal Investigation Division and Internet Crime Unit.
In 2015 Undersheriff Walton was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and was assigned to the Uniformed Patrol Division. In 2017 he was promoted to the rank of Captain while assigned to the Uniformed Patrol Division as the Administrative Captain, and the Field Training Officer Coordinator. August of 2018 Undersheriff Walton was promoted to the rank of Chief Warrant Officer and was assigned to the Bureau of Court Security. Lastly, on February 6, 2020 Undersheriff Walton was promoted to the rank of Undersheriff and is currently assigned to Bureau of Law Enforcement, where he oversees personnel, training and disciplinary matters.Undersheriff Walton holds an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice Magna Cum Laude from Penn Foster College. He is member of the NAACP, International Police Chief’s Association, Passaic County Police Chief’s Association, National Association of Field Training Officers; Trustee for Friends of Passaic County Parks.
