Undersheriff Nart Hapatsha began his career in August of 1988, as a Corrections Officer with the Passaic County Sheriff’s Office. He completed both the Basic Corrections and Basic Police Officer training classes at the Passaic County Police Academy. In 2009, he was promoted to Commander where he was in charge of the Intel Division and the Hostage Negotiations Team.
Undersheriff Hapatsha, was a detective with the Fugitive Warrant Squad and served as a member of the Sheriff’s Emergency Response Team, SWAT, Haz-Mat, and Heavy Rescue.
Undersheriff Hapatsha has received numerous awards and commendations throughout his career, which include the Meritorious Service Award and the 911 Memorial Award. He is also a member of the New Jersey Honor Legion and the Passaic County 200 Club.
Undersheriff Hapatsha has two children and is a lifelong resident of Passaic County.
