Michael Tolerico serves as the Warden of the Corrections Services Division and has charge of the administration, operation, and maintenance of the Passaic County Jail and the protection, custody, and care of over 1,100 inmates. Warden Michael Tolerico has nearly 25 years’ experience with the Passaic County Sheriff’s Office and has served as the Warden since March of 2010. His experience includes assignments within the agency’s various divisions, including Corrections, Patrol, and K-9, with his career ultimately focusing on corrections where he has served in every rank from line officer to supervisor, manager, and now administrator.
Warden Tolerico received his basic training at the Passaic County Police Academy in 1995, has a Bachelor’s of Art degree in Public Administration from Farleigh Dickinson University, and is a Certified Public Manager, Certified Jail Manager, and a graduate of the National Jail Leadership Command Academy.
Warden Tolerico serves (as the President) on the Executive Board of New Jersey County Jail Wardens Association, as well as a Commissioner on the American Jail Association’s Jail Managers Certification Commission, where he helps correction officers and supervisors individually obtain nationally recognized correctional proficiency certifications.
