Undersheriff Timothy Wheeler’s career in law enforcement began in 1994 at the Passaic County Jail, as a County Correction Officer. Over the course of his career, Timothy demonstrated exceptional leadership and a tireless dedication to his profession, ultimately retiring in September of 2019. Throughout his tenure, he made lasting contributions to the agency, including his work as a member of the Gang Intelligence Unit, and his service as a Union Trustee, PBA President, and as a State Delegate for PBA Local 197, where he worked tirelessly to advocate for his fellow officers. He was sworn in as Undersheriff of the Passaic County Sheriff’s Office in January 2025.

Timothy’s outstanding service has been recognized by many over the years. He has received numerous honors, including the Civil Service Award from Assemblyman Benji Wimberly, the Leadership Award from former Passaic County Commissioner TJ Best, the Law Enforcement Award from Passaic County Commissioner Bruce James, and the Outstanding Community Service Award from the Passaic Optimist Club. These accolades speak to his unwavering dedication to the profession, his leadership, and his commitment to improving the community he served.

Beyond his work in law enforcement, he is an active member of the Prince Hall Masons and the Silver Star Lodge 45, highlighting his continued commitment to service and leadership in both his personal and professional life.
